Chapter 12: The Monthly Money Date

You have built the foundation. You have completed your 30-day reset (or you are partway through). Now you need a sustainable rhythm—a way to keep the momentum going without burning out or falling back into avoidance.

The Monthly Money Date is that rhythm.

It is a simple, non-scary ritual. Fifteen minutes a month. A coffee date with your future self.

Schedule it. Pick a recurring day. Perhaps the first of the month, or the last Sunday. Put it on your calendar. “Money Date – 15 min.”

The Agenda

Time Activity
0-3 min Open your banking app. Look at your balances. Just observe. No judgement.
3-6 min Check your automatic transfers. Are they still running? Did any bills increase?
6-9 min Review one expense category this month. Groceries. Subscriptions. Takeaway. Can you reduce one thing by five percent?
9-12 min Check in on your joy spending. Did the things you bought actually bring you joy? If not, note it. If yes, celebrate it.
12-15 min Set one intention for next month. One tiny action. Write it down.

That is it. Fifteen minutes. You are done.

Optional bonus: If you have a partner, do this date together. Order takeaway. Make it a ritual. The goal is to associate money with connection, not conflict.
